for rabbits to 100 yards then a .22LR rimfire is the dogs. The police try to push the 0.17HMR but noise is an issue. a .223 or .22/.250 would do both foxes and munties. dont forget to put moderators on your application and put hearing protection as your reason. I think you might be stretching it to put 3 rifles down.

rabbits up to 100yds , a .22lr is perfect with subsonic ammo and moderrator it`s quiet and effective. for fox its got to be the .22-250. this calibre has also just been authourised for shooting small deer muntjac and chinesse water. for anything inbetween you should get a .17 hmr ,long distance rabbits and crows up to 200yds, (ground shooting only) also if specified this round can be used for foxesI`ve shot them out to 100yds no problem. as a guide I got all three rifles on my first FAC but had to be supervised with the .22-250 for about 6 months.Good luck and Good shooting.

This where the confusion starts 2 differing views on the subject and BASC has a totally diffrent idea. They reckon to shoot everything with a .22-250 (Rabbits as well). Any reason as to why not to use the .223????

you should put a .22lr on for the rabbits because you can take them out at 100 odd yrds. if you put a silencer on a .22 with subsonics it is incredibly quiet .

You can get all types of vermin on your FAC if you have a .223 or .22/250 etc and I can vouch that it will be very effective for killing all of them. However if you shoot rabbits with a .22/250 they explode and I'm not joking. You will only find bits of them. Very humane I'm sure but not great if you want them for the pot or the game dealer.

Very true Abolter. I have to say I was a bit shocked at the BASC idea, didn't fancy rabbit mince everytime. Thanks for your help I have made my mind up going for the .22lr and the .223. fingers crossed

Glad to have helped a little. Let us know how you get on and then we can look forward to further debate over the .22/250 versus .223!!!
